Gresley Old Hall, Derbyshire was built in the 16th Century with material from the old priory which once stood on the grounds in 1543 dating as far back to the 1100’s. The original hall, built from timber was apparently pulled down around 1734 and the new brick hall was constructed leaving only the stone foundations and chimneys and the original West Wing.
In 1795 a China factory was established by Sir Nigel Bowyer Gresley of Drakelow Hall and C.B Adderley of Hams Hall in part of the hall premises and kilns were built on the grounds but it proved to be unsuccessful. Around 1805 Mr Nadin made common earthenware at the Hall as well as china items, which included boots and slippers. Later in 1895 it became a farmhouse and was tenanted to many families.
The current house has an array of floors some of which have not been touched since the 19th Century and in the top most attics Victorian graffiti can still be seen on the lime wash walls.
Over the years the rural setting of the hall has changed as land has been sold off and the Hall was bought by the Coal Board in 1953 to make it into a Minors Welfare which opened in 1964.

At the beginning of the evening we will split down into 3 or 4 small and intimate groups led by our experienced Team members and begin investigating separate areas at a time to avoid overcrowding and possible evidence contamination.
If there is a piece of equipment you have seen on TV and would like to use please speak to one of the team and we will gladly try and oblige your request to use it during the evening. We have most items which range from the Spirit box, ovilus and our newest piece of equipment the SLS cameras.
Here at UK Ghost Hunts we pride ourselves on our scientific research and we are a very gadget friendly group although we also like to use old school original methods of contacting spirits which include ouija boards, table tipping and human pendulum.
