Event Description

 Old House Museum

Built in the reign of Henry VIII as a tax collector’s cottage, it was expanded into a gentleman’s residence in the Elizabethan period – complete with a garderobe. In the industrial revolution, it was repurposed for mill workers’ cottages, by none other than Richard Arkwright himself who had to build his third cotton spinning mill in Bakewell. The house retains surviving features from all these periods: so there’s plenty for all architectural enthusiasts

known to have a few ghosts inside the property. A dark entity is reported to haunt the building and pray on the livings fear, He is said to push visitors, staff or anyone that dares to enter, The spirits of 3 women are also said to reside here after being involved in a travesty of justice believed to have taken place in the early 1600s. Lastly, there is a negative energy in the cellars that cause many to feel uncomfortable.

Join us as we try and discover the stories behind these spirits and to uncover why they still roam here.

We have most items which range from the Spirit box, ovilus and our newest piece of equipment the SLS cameras.
